Subscribers to the Government Reservation Area Regeneration Scheme, who are yet to develop plots allocated to them, have been advised to begin work on or before 12th April 2025, or have the lands reallocated.
The State Commissioner for Housing, Jagumolu Akande Omoniyi, said this while conducting subscribers and professional bodies in the housing sector round the 1st and 2nd clusters of the housing units, on Friday, in Abeokuta.
Omoniyi noted that the GRA Regeneration Scheme, was one of the move by the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government to lift the face of Abeokuta, through building of smart city within the State capital.
The Commissioner said the issuance of the ultimatum became expedient so as to discourage land speculations within the housing estate.

Omoniyi said the housing units would be gated with security posts to ensure the safety of lives and property of residents of the estate.
He equally informed that a central water scheme with about 18,000 liters capacity will serve the residents with other modern day facilities provided by government.
Omoniyi said 15 units of 5-bedroom exquisite duplexes with boys quarters have been completed by the state government to serve as prototypes.
Apart from the 15 units of the prototypes, 20 similar duplexes are being developed by private individuals within the Cluster 1 of the Ibara GRA Regeneration Scheme, thereby making the total number of homes 35.
“Facilities such as drainages with walkways, 80,000 central water scheme, underground electrical cables, fiber optic cables and solar-powered street lights, have been provided to make the GRA truly a place to live, work and play,” he added.
While saying that construction work would soon begin at the Cluster 3 of the scheme, Omoniyi submitted that no fewer than 300 smart duplexes are expected to be constructed in all the clusters earmarked for the housing project before the end of the year
He, however, said that a similar regeneration project is being undertaken by the state government in the Igbeba GRA in Ijebu Ode, while the turning of sod in the Ilaro GRA will be done soon.
