Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Saturday, backed the N150 billion loan request of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde before the Oyo state House of Assembly for the completion of Ibadan circular road project.
He expressed optimism that the loan when granted will fast-track the completion of the road and further drive infrastructural development of the state.
This is contained in a personally press statement forwarded by Adeyemo to the Tribune online.
It is recalled that Makinde on January 16 sought the approval of the Oyo State House of Assembly to access a loan of N150 billion to finance ongoing infrastructure projects in the state. Top on the list of infrastructure projects the N150 billion loan is earmarked for is to fund the ongoing construction of the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road, Ibadan.
The governor’s request was contained in a letter read at the plenary of the Oyo Assembly.
However, Adeyemo in the statement contended that visible projects embarked on by Makinde’s administration have enhanced socioeconomic growth of the state and attracted Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs).
The statement reads: “Governor Seyi Makinde has changed the face of Oyo in terms of infrastructural development and has further placed the state in a global limelight through responsive leadership and governance. He deserves the support of all irrespective of political, religious and ethnic affiliations.
“The recently inaugurated 12.5km Challenge-Odo Ona Elewe-Elebu-Apata road is a testament of how the state government under his leadership has been utilising loan facilities to provide basic amenities for the people of Oyo State.
“It is incontrovertible that Moniya-Iseyin Road, Old Ife Road-Airport-Adegbayi Road, Omi Adio-Ido Road and Oyo-Iseyin road projects which have inaugurated for the use of motorists have given the state aesthetic beauty befitting Oyo as a pacesetter state,” the statement concluded.
