Commissioner of Police Imo State, Danjuma Aboki, said the command arrested over 40 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, rescuing 10 victims and recovered arms and ammunition from their hideouts in Umuakah in Nijaba Local Government.
He spoke in Abuja, after the IGP conference: “From June to September 2024, the command dealt with criminals especially IPOB/Eastern Security Network (ESN). My officers neutralised four gunmen by foiling the attack on Area Divisional police headquarters, Umuakah.
“We always apply professionalism especially in investigation before charging suspects to court. We constantly review and evaluate policing capabilities and threats on critical assets and embark upon painstaking intelligence gathering through robust synergy with core sister agencies. We organise vigilance groups and other stakeholders to imbibe community policing.
“The Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS), also known Tiger Base, commander, Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, with his operatives arrested 10 suspected kidnappers terrorising Isiala Mbano. The suspects confessed involvement in various kidnap operations in the area. Police raided their hideouts and recovered arms and ammunition.
“Operatives of AKS also arrested 14 suspected armed robbers in Ohaji/Egbema, Oru West and Okigwe. During operations in Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise and Orlu, they arrested suspected IPOB/ESN members and other notorious armed robbers involved in murder and kidnap cases.
“They confessed to collecting millions of naira as ransom and killed victims who did not cooperate with them.
“Criminals should stay away from the state because it will be too hot for you to operate. We appreciate the public for the useful information to enable us flush out hoodlums. We also appreciate state government for giving us operations vehicle.”
