Officials of the Sokoto State HISBA board have intercepted and confiscated over two hundred cartons of liquid substances suspected to be alcoholic drinks at the Sokoto central motor park.
Speaking while addressing journalists at the HISBA office Sokoto on Wednesday, the state HISBA Commander, Usman Jatau, who paraded the items also reeled out some rules and regulations expected of residents to abide with within the metropolis.
He said nobody has come out to claimed the confiscated suspected alcoholic drinks and the HISBA would consult the state commissioner for Justice and Attorney General to know the next line of action.
While reeling out a sets of rules and regulations expected to guide the conduct of residents in the state, the commander said the rules and regulations are not targeting at anybody with the intention of witch-hunts cause chaos, and or disrupt peaceful nature of the state, but rather will serve as guiding principles in the day to day activities of the people of the state.

He said, “Let me appeal to the people to fear Allah (SWT) in all our dealings, avoid all prohibited activities such as mingling and blending between males and females.
“It is also expected to watch Dress code, and social business interaction and relationships must be in line with the procedure permitted by Islamic law.
“Taking any advantage at any place or a hide out for practicing any immoral act is prohibited; Assaulting and cheating any Muslim fellow directly or indirectly , must not be practiced and shun away by all Muslims among others
“All ceremonies, celebrations and anniversaries are carried out in accordance with the teaching of shariah.
“Taking advantage and selling out any substance and illicit drugs at any public gathering , ceremonies or at any event is also forbidden.”
