At the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series of devices last week, the star of the show was not necessarily the hardware of the devices which feel a little derivative over the past few renditions of the lineup, the AI features and capabilities were a little more intriguing.
The Galaxy AI features make the S24 devices probably the smartest and most versatile Android devices we have today. But these are still software features, no doubt made possible by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 running the show, but there are other devices, last year’s devices, which are still very capable, right?

Surely, some of these devices are capable enough and worthy of the latest and greatest AI features, right? Well, yes. So these models will get Galaxy AI features. At least for now.
- Galaxy S23,
- Galaxy S23+,
- Galaxy S23 Ultra,
- Galaxy S23 FE,
- Galaxy Z Fold5,
- Galaxy Z Flip5, and the
- Galaxy Tab S9 series
All of these will get their AI infusion in the first half of the year. It remains unclear whether older devices like the Galaxy S22 and S21 Series will see these AI features officially. Unofficially though, I bet we’re a few weeks away from seeing some of these features ported to these older devices by the developer community.
What are these Galaxy AI features?
Galaxy AI is a new set of AI-powered features for Samsung devices. The new features are enabled by on-device AI and cloud-based AI. Here are some of the AI features that are available on Samsung Galaxy S24:
- Circle to Search: A new way to search is here with Circle to Search with Google. While scrolling or watching videos, use S Pen or your finger to circle items and get Google Search results.
- Live Translate: Break down language barriers over the phone or texting with Live Translate.
- Chat Assist: Get real-time tone suggestions to make your writing sound more professional or conversational.
- Note Assist: Note Assist makes a long story short. Simply start writing and AI formats your notes into a clear, easy-to-review summary.
- Super HDR AI: With our latest Super HDR upgrade and an AI assist, instantly see what your super-vivid pics and videos will look like before you take them. It even works when you’re shooting within social media apps.
- AI Editing: AI editing capabilities help you get the exact photo you want, relocating objects and intelligently filling in empty spaces.

AI continues to shake up the tech space and these new Galaxy AI features make this even more accessible to mobile users. Sure, we are definately going to see similar attempts by other OEMs throughout this year and I, for one, am excited to see what’s yet to come.
