Gunmen shot and killed three vigilantes and a passerby in Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday evening.
The state’s police command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, revealed in a statement to newsmen that the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed a tactical team to apprehend the culprits responsible for the vigilantes’ brutal murder.
A viral video circulating online showed the vigilantes, likely shot at close range while patrolling in a vehicle. The passerby was struck by a stray bullet from the gunmen.
The Police Commissioner has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and encouraged community members with relevant information on the suspects to report to the police.
