Ahead of the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Anthony Aziegbemi has appealed to Chief Dan Orbih, the South-South, National Vice Chairman of the party to retrace his steps and come back to the party.
According to him, I appeal to Chief Dan Orbih, the leader of the “Legacy PDP” in the state to retrace his steps and come back home.
Aziegbemi made the appeal during the PDP governorship campaign rally in Fugar, the administrative headquarters of Etsako Central Local Government Area.
The state PDP chairman, who commended the people in the locality for the large turnout during the campaign, urged them to come out en masse and vote on September 21 for the party”s candidate, Asue Aghodalo.
Earlier, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe a chieftain of the PDP and former Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan said the Obaseki led administration has done well for people of the state and particularly, the people of Etsako Central Local Government.
Oghiadomhe, who hailed from the local government, thanked the governor for bringing Asue Ighodalo to take over from him, whom he described as “a man with proven track records”.
“The people of Etsako Central Local Government are fully with Asue Ighodalo and they will massively vote for the party and defend their votes”,he assured.
Also Barrister Pascal Ugbome, another chieftain of the party from the locality described Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie, “as perfect match” and capable of taking Edo State to greater heights.
Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that the National Working Committee of the party had on July 10, 2024 announced the suspension for alleged involvement in sabotaging the party’s efforts in the State.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, alleged that Orbih’s actions and comments regarding the Edo State Governorship Primary Election are not in line with the party’s constitution.
Ologunagba, had in a statement added that the NWC has set up a six-member committee, led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, to investigate Orbih.
The statement read in part, “the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its 588th meeting today, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, considered all issues, including complaints on the activities of the National Vice Chairman (South-South) Chief Dan Orbih concerning the September 21, 2024, Governorship election in Edo State
“The NWC at the meeting unanimously condemned the embarrassing actions and utterances of Chief Dan Orbih relating to the Edo State Governorship Primary Election of our great Party which actions and utterances are inconsistent with the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and the demand of his office as a national officer of the Party.
“Consequently, the NWC has set up a six-member committee headed by the Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, to investigate the issue under the provisions of the Constitution of the Party.
“In the meantime, the NWC forthwith suspends Chief Dan Orbih from participating in all meetings, activities, and programs of the NWC pending the conclusion of an investigation by the Committee”,he stated.
