A group, Crusade for a Greater Nigeria on Poverty Eradication and Social Justice, has called on the Federal Capital Territory six area councils chairmen to support the minister, Nyesom Wike’s infrastructure drive.
The President/founder of the group, Engr. Prosper Okafor, said the recent flag-off of road construction and promise of additional ones by Wike show the commitment of President Bola Tinubu through the minister to change the narrative in the territory.
He encouraged them to provide measures that will lead to the successful completion of the projects.
According to him, Wike’s approach to issues is an indication that the Nation’s capital under his watch will be different if he is given the necessary support.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the president urged the chairmen, residents, and other stakeholders to always play their role in protecting the multiple projects embarked upon by the minister.
Okafor said irrespective of religious, political, and ethnic groups, the well-being of Abuja residents should be paramount to everyone.
According to him, since the creation of the Federal Capital Territory, no serious attention in the area of infrastructure has been given to people at the rural level, but a few days of Wike in office have proven that better things are coming for all the communities.
He said the residents in the past thought they were forgotten, but the current administration’s steps had renewed hope for residents in the political office holders.

The statement reads, “FCT Six Area Councils chairmen should support the minister of FCT Nyesom Wike to succeed in his infrastructure drive. All the road projects are sited in rural areas; it is the duty of the people to ensure that the contractor and workers do not have obstacles.
“It is an opportunity that Abuja people must take seriously irrespective of political, religious, and ethnic affiliations.
“Wike is known as Mr. project; his record in Rivers state, when he was the Governor, in the area of projects is very clear, which is an indication that good things will happen in Abuja, especially at rural levels. It is time for the stakeholders to look beyond sentiment and work for the good of their people.”
