Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has assented to the budgetary allocation for the 2025 fiscal year, totalling ₦719,755,417,663, into law in line with the standard appropriation plan.
Of the total budget size, ₦262,670,660,562.68, representing 36%, is dedicated to recurrent expenditure, while ₦457,804,757,100.32, standing at 64%, will be spent on capital expenditure.
Signing the 2025 appropriation bill on Tuesday at the Government House, Governor Yusuf declared that his administration is committed to the full implementation of the new fiscal document.
He renewed his pledge to stimulate economic growth, ensure quality education, and foster functional healthcare development, among other top priorities outlined in the 2025 budget.
Tagged the “Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development,” Governor Yusuf explained plans to allocate substantial resources to social welfare and poverty alleviation through various empowerment initiatives in 2025.
“Let me assure the good people of Kano of our commitment to improving the lives of our citizens through investment generation, infrastructural development, and poverty alleviation programmes. The 2025 budget is dedicated to stimulating economic growth.
“Our government is also committed to delivering quality healthcare services, agricultural growth, and social welfare. We will implement the plan to build a prosperous and inclusive development in Kano,” the Governor stated.
Speaker of the House of Assembly, Jibrin Ismail Falgore, while submitting the passed bill for assent, noted the upward revision of the budget size after a public hearing. He called for the full implementation of the budget as allocated to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.
On 8 November, Governor Yusuf presented a proposed budget of ₦549,160,417,663.00 to the state assembly. The appropriation was readjusted by over ₦170 billion to capture other critical developmental needs.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, principal officers of the State House of Assembly, and members of the state executive council.
