Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has pledged his government’s support for the establishment of the Walter Miller College of Nursing Sciences in Kaltungo, expressing optimism that the institution will contribute to the development of the state and beyond.
The Governor gave this indication while receiving a delegation of the Anglican Church, Diocese of Gombe, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Gombe.
Acknowledging the crucial role of health institutions in training healthcare professionals, the governor pledged to support and partner with faith- based organisations and development agencies and institutions to ensure adequate human resources for the state’s healthcare sector.
He stated, “The establishment of such institutions is a welcome development and a win for both the government and the people. Myself and the government of Gombe State will ensure to support the project, especially considering its potential to train our younger ones in healthcare.”
The Governor commended the church for its peaceful conduct and urged them to continue promoting peace and unity in the state and the country.
He emphasised the government’s commitment to inclusivity, stating, “Government in its own part is trying to cater for all irrespective of their religious, tribal or sectional differences. That should be the spirit of true Nigeria and that is what we stand for in Gombe State.”
Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Rt. Rev. Cletus Ajigben Tambari, Bishop of Gombe Anglican Diocese, thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his inclusive leadership and for fostering a peaceful environment that allows all religions to practice freely.
The Reverend also expressed gratitude for the government’s infrastructure development projects, which have positively impacted the lives of the people.
He specifically acknowledged the road networks and other initiatives,.which he said, demonstrate the Governor’s pragmatic, purposeful, and people-oriented approach to governance.
The Bishop pledged the church’s continued loyalty and commitment to law and order, and support for the government’s ongoing development initiatives.
