In his determination to reduce poverty in Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has launched the third phase of the Fintiri Business Wallet.
The third phase of the empowerment program through the Fintiri Business Wallet has 65,000 people across the state receiving N50,000 each.
The program, which took place at Mamud Ribadu Square, aims to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.
The program, which is part of the governor’s 8-Point Agenda, focuses on youth and women development, poverty alleviation, and commerce.
While addressing the beneficiaries, Governor Fintiri emphasized the importance of institutionalizing poverty alleviation efforts rather than relying on handouts.
He said the state government is providing skills training and support for entrepreneurs, particularly in the rapidly growing ICT sector in Nigeria.
The governor noted that the program’s impact goes beyond just providing financial support, as it also helps to promote family stability and economic growth.
“The government has mandated the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development to provide follow-up support for the beneficiaries and build their capacities,” he said.
Other initiatives linked to the Fintiri Business Wallet include the NG-Cares empowerment campaign and a project in partnership with the SDG, aimed at supporting vulnerable households.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hammanjuba Gatugel, commended the initiative for driving progress in Adamawa State, which is part of the governor’s commitment to the people of Adamawa State.
Earlier, the Director General of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Dr. Michael Zira, informed that the disbursement would be carried out in three batches to create a trade-friendly state.
Dr. Zira noted that the program was designed to uplift the less privileged and commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his steadfastness and commitment to empowering the people of Adamawa State.
