Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has challenged parents to always monitor the whereabouts of their children and wards to ensure that they are safe and secure.
The Governor was speaking when he handed over the three stolen children to their parents after they were rescued in Anambra State from the abductor.
It was indeed a disturbing moment at the Government House on Wednesday when the innocent kids were brought after their rescue and reunited with their parents, especially the mothers.
Bala emphasised the importance of proper parenting and community vigilance in preventing such heinous crimes pointing out that neighbourhood watch is very important in communal living.
He also directed that those found guilty of child trafficking should face decisive action in line with the law, stressing that “justice delayed is justice denied.”
A visibly annoyed Bala Mohammed chided both the prosecution and judiciary for delaying the judgement of those already arrested in connection with the last episode of the abduction of children in the state.
He stressed that his administration would do everything possible to ensure that the State was rid of questionable characters who were bent on making the state a haven for abducting children for money-making ventures.
Bala Mohammed also frowned at the activities of men of the underworld who are taking every advantage to unleash mayhem on innocent children.
The Governor charged parents to ensure proper upbringing and monitoring of their children while community leaders are expected to know and supervise residents of their locations to fish out bad eggs.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Auwal Musa while briefing the Governor, said that the Police in the State and that of Anambra State worked closely with the Office of the State First Lady under the gender-based violence committee to ensure the success of the rescue exercise.
The State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed in her address, appreciated the support of the Governor to the Committee on child trafficking in the state as well as against gender-based violence.
She expressed happiness that the innocent kids were rescued in good time due to the aptness of the security agencies in Bauchi and Anambra states.
Thereafter, Bala Mohammed successfully reunited the three abducted children with their overjoyed parents a remarkable achievement which is a testament to the Governor’s unwavering commitment to eradicating child trafficking in the state.
The children, who were stolen from Bauchi and sold in Anambra State, were recovered through a collaborative effort between the Police Commands of both states and the Office of the State First Lady.
This remarkable reunion marks a significant milestone in Governor Mohammed’s crusade against child trafficking and serves as a beacon of hope for families affected by this scourge.
The elated parents commended the Governor and the security agencies for ensuring the rescue of the children and reuniting them after a temporary separation.
