Bauchi Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has pledged to fulfill all the promises made by his administration in the areas of ensuring adequate welfare of working Journalists in Bauchi state.
He also assured that his administration will provide a conducive working environment, especially by upgrading the NUJ Press Center to a befitting edifice that will be a reference Center in the country.
Bala Mohammed was speaking on Monday while receiving officials from the State Council of the NUJ and its counterpart of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) who went to congratulate him over his recent victory at the Supreme Court.
The Governor said that he is satisfied with the leadership of the Council for exhibiting quality leadership and promoting professionalism which has projected the state in a good light since he came on board.
He further said that he is impressed with the quality leadership being provided by the NUJ through ensuring professionalism despite numerous challenges being faced in the media practice.
To this end, appreciated them for the visit and noted that he is aware of some pending promises made to the unions including a plan to upgrade the state NUJ Secretariat, and provision of working tools.
He called for sustenance of the effort especially in areas of publicizing the state government’s laudable initiatives aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of the citizens.
Earlier, speaking, the State NUJ Chairman comrade Umar Sa’idu acknowledged the Governor’s concern for the plight of working, and retired Journalists emphasised that actualisation of the proposed upgrade of the NUJ Secretariat would provide a conducive working environment for journalists in the state.
He congratulated Governor Bala Mohammed for the Apex Court Victory and urged him to consolidate the achievements recorded by his administration.
He also commended the Governor for allowing state-owned media houses to cover opposition party activities during the election campaigns, saying is a sign of inclusive Governance.
