Niger State Government is set to utilise Gurara Waterfalls to generate electricity.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made the disclosure in Gawu Babangida, headquarters of Gurara local government area of the State when he addressed stakeholders and members of the Council in continuation of his statewide projects monitoring.
He explained that when the project is taken up, the local government area will be included among the electricity-generating Council areas and enjoy its benefits.
The Governor observed that Gurara local government is a priority area considering its potential, saying his administration will ensure they are fully harnessed for their good.
He enumerated some projects to be executed in the local government in addition to the 5 km township road to include 5 km road in Izom, road to connect Izom and Gwagwalada, construction of Gurara games resort.
Others are N120 million worth of modern trailer parks, provision of potable water through partnership, and a green energy park under a tripartite arrangement among others.
The Governor appreciated senator representing Niger State Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly Abuja, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa for his effective service delivery to the people of his constituents and his plans to build a mini stadium, 50-bed capacity healthcare, skills acquisition centre, and many more.
Earlier, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa said God has blessed the people of the State with a good leader who loves them and has their interests at heart.
He said in no distant time, Gurara local government area will wear a new look, as the road projects will be completed and solar-power streetlights installed.
The Senator enjoined the people to reciprocate the good gesture by supporting the incumbent Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago-led administration to ensure his success.
The Deputy Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Afiniki Dauda, and the Chairman of Gurara Local Government Council, Abdul-Halim Abubakar in their separate remarks thanked the state Governor for his visit to the Council area and the various meaningful projects he is executing for them.
Former Commissioner for Water Resources and Dam Development and one of the elders in the local government area, Alhaji Abubakar Azozo on behalf of the Council area, appealed to the Governor for the construction of Wakpe-Leifu-Boku road, Dikko-Kabo-Shako road, bridges in some communities.
He also requested the completion of the abandoned road project that would benefit Izom, Gawu, and Lambata communities which was initiated during late Engr. Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure’s regime, highlighting that it is at 90 percent completion.
The Governor had earlier inaugurated a reactivated transformer in Lambata that had been vandalised four years ago, with a call on the people to protect it.
