Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has commenced the remodelling and expansion of the Ultra-modern Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Specialist Hospital (IBBSH), Minna.
The Governor who disclosed this to newsmen during a media chat said upon completion, the remodelled hospital would boast of a General Outpatient Department (GOPD), patient waiting area, Intensive Care Unit, Accident and Emergency Unit, VIP Section, Trauma centre, Doctors quarters, cafeteria and completion of retention wall.
According to him, additional supplies would include Endoscopy instruments for the lower tract: Endoscopy Tower, Monitor, Camera head, 30-degree Rigid Telescope, Resectoscope (bipolar and Monopolar), Erllik evacuator, Diathermy Pedal, Endoscopy graspers, and biopsy forceps.
The IBB Specialist Hospital, a state-owned tertiary facility established in 1995 and with the exception of the VIP wing, has not witnessed any expansion since its inception.

The Governor added that in addition, the administration is already converting the old Shiroro Hotel into the state’s first University Teaching Hospital, as the IBB Specialist is being remodelled to a global standard.
This, he said, would be achieved by equipping it with state-of-the-art facilities such as Computed tomography (CT) scan machines, hemodialysis machines, fully automated laboratory machines, Echocardiography machines, ventilators, Defibrillators, Theatre operating lamps, operating tables, Ultrasound machines, Infusion pumps, and Digital x-ray machines.
He pointed out that the current intervention would significantly boost the state’s health delivery services
Before now, parts of IBB Hospital’s equipment were outdated, with crumbling structures and inadequate facilities across its wards.
