Niger Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has sympathised with the Nigerian Army over the killing of a captain and five soldiers in an ambush by gunmen suspected to be bandits.
The Governor, in a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the incident as atrocious, provocative, and unacceptable.
He expressed his deepest sympathy with the security agencies who are daily making sacrifices to ensure the safety of citizens, with most of them paying the supreme price.
The Governor assured the Nigerian Army and every other conventional and non-conventional security agencies that his administration will not rest on its oars in providing all the needed support towards halting the nefarious activities of bandits.
He also used the opportunity to commiserate with the families of the slayed Officer and men as well as a Vigilante, promising that their deaths would not be a waste.
Recall that bandits recently waylaid and killed some security personnel comprising a Captain, soldiers, and a vigilante while on their way to respond to a distress call around Bassa and Alawa communities in Shiroro local government area of Niger.
