Gombe State Police Command recently recorded successes in the fight against crime and other social vices as eight suspects were arrested, a kidnapped victim rescued, nineteen live ammunitions and several other exhibits recovered.
Consequently, the Command stated that it remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents by intensifying efforts to combat criminal activities.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Command PPRO, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, stating “Three suspects were arrested for the offence of theft and mischief by fire. The suspects are Hannatu Ibrahim, aged 28 of Kumo, Akko LGA, Ahmed Adamu, aged 20 and Abubakar Ibrahim, aged 28.

“On 22/03/2025 at about 2000hrs, a distress call was recieved from New GRA Gombe, behind Legislative Quarters, that first suspect who happened to be a cook to one Mohammed Jurdi, a Syrian attached to Triacta Nigeria Limited stole his money, the sum of $35,000 (N53,495,400.00) and set his house ablaze.
“Upon receipt of the call, the Police Patrol Team from Gombe Division swiftly swung into action and arrested the prime suspect, Hannatu Ibrahim.
“Upon investigation, She was found in possession of $7,100 US Dollars and the said suspect revealed that the second suspect was the first person who came into contact with her, therefore he removed two (2) pieces of 100 dollar notes.
“Immediately, the second suspect was arrested, $100 dollar notes were found in his possession inside his wallet. However, the third suspect was the security man to the said victim, who was also arrested in connection to the alleged crime.”
The PPRO revealed that exhibits recovered from the suspects included the sum of $7,100 US dollars from ( 1st suspect), sum of $100 US Dollars from (2nd suspect).
The case will soon be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
He said, “Also for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping, on the 19/03/2025 at about 0130hrs a formal complaint was received through one Usaini Magaji, aged 36, of Wuro-waila via Kumo, Akko LGA, that some unknown persons numbering Six armed themselves with Single barrel dane gun and sticks, invaded his residence and started shooting on the air thereafter kidnapped his wife, one Amina Hussaini aged 22 of the same address.
“On receipt of the complaint, Policemen from Akko, led by CSP Chama Yakubu visited the scene of incident for assessment where two empty shells of single barrel cartridges were recovered.
“However, On 25/03/2025 at about 0300hrs, after series of raiding, tracking and codoning, the xaptors were left with no option then to release the victim and escape from the bush.
“Meanwhile, the victim has been taken to the hospital for medical examination and re-united with her family, stressing that the kidnapped victim was rescued unhurt and no ransom was paid.”
The PPRO stated that efforts are in progress to get and bring the perpetrators to book, while exhibits recovered were two empty shells of single cartridges.
“Two suspects were arrested for the offence of criminal conspiracy and possession of locally made pistol, the suspects are Abdu Manu aged 35 of Lamba Village Via Kumo Akko LGA and Babangida Mohammed “aged 27 of Garin Modibbo Village Via Kumo, Akko LGA.
“On 20/03/2025 at about 0730hrs, one Hamza Ibrahim aged 30 attached to Nigeria hunters and forest security service, Akko LGA arrested and brought in one Abdu Manu aged 35 for being in possession of one locally made pistol.
“During the course of investigation, the arrested suspect confessed to have bought the locally made gun from the second suspect at the rate of N6,000.
“Investigation is ongoing, especially on the source and manufacturer of the Locally made Pistol. The case will be charged to court for prosecution while the exhibit recovered was one locally made gun.
“Abdullahi Musa aged 27 of Palsheshe-Basha via Ayana Ward Billiri LGA and Six others suspects are at large were arrested for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
“On the 18/03/2026 about 2100hrs information received from Divisional Police Officer, Billiri revealed that on 18/03/2025 at about 2100hrs, unknown persons barricaded Filiya-Billiri Road with log of woods and robbed motorist.
“Following the serious track down and manhurt on the suspects, on the 24/03/2025, at about 0700hrs the above mentioned suspect was arrested at palsheshe by Joint team of Police and Hunters group from Futuk – Alkaleri LGA, Bauchi State.
“The said suspect confessed to have partaken in series of armed robbery and that of Billiri-Filiya road reported on 18/03/2025, were the suspects alongside with his syndicate Robbed Motorist who are coming back from Leggal-Market heading to their various destinations and disposed them of their properties.
“Exhibit recovered from him included one empty shell of AK-47 rifle and woods used to block the road. Efforts on the way to get the remaining Six fleeing suspects and to recover the exhibits.
“Also, Mohammed Adamu aged 43 of byepass Gombe and Hashiru Mohammed aged 47 of phase 2 Sharada Kano, Kano state were arrested for criminal conspiracy and theft of a motor vehicle.
“On the 23/03/2025 at about 2000hrs a formal complain was recieved from one Mohammed Umar Pindiga, Imam of Gombe Central Mosque at Emir’s Palace, that on the same date at about 1800hrs, he went to the said mosque and parked his vehicle, Toyota Camry with Reg. Number GME 797 AA, Ash in Color valued about N2,500.000.00.”On the 23/03/2025 at about 2000hrs a formal complain was recieved from one Mohammed Umar Pindiga, Imam of Gombe Central Mosque at Emir’s Palace, that on the same date at about 1800hrs, he went to the said mosque and parked his vehicle, Toyota Camry with Reg. Number GME 797 AA, Ash in color valued about N2,500.000.00.
“At about 1950hrs, he discovered that his vehicle was stolen with the original particulars of the vehicle inside the car.
“While acting on credible information, Police detectives from Gombe Division swung into action on 25/03/2025 at about 2330hrs the above mentioned suspects were arrested in connection to the alleged offence and the said Toyota Camry was found in their possession and it has been recovered as exhibit.
“However, the suspects confessed to have committed the crime and will soon be charged to court for prosecution.
“Furthermore, on the 23/03/2025 at about 1300hrs the following Almajiris; One Munkaila Muhammad aged 15, Yusuf Abdullahi aged 14 and Ibrahim Musa aged 14 of the Tsangayan Malam Ahmed Muhammad Wali of Gurama quarters Gombe, reported at the Gombe Divisional Headquarters that he went to Sadeequ Shehu Filling Station beside FCE (T) Gombe to pickup some empty rubber bottles from their waste bin and on the process they found one packet of nineteen rounds of 7.6x62mm live ammunitions.
“On receipt of the report, Police detectives drafted to the scene and they were thoroughly searched at the said filling station, but nothing was recovered.
“The Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to combating crime and ridding the state of all forms of crime and social vices and ensuring the safety of all residents.
“The Command also urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.” he added.
