Gombe NSCDC arrests four for alleged sodomy

Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 10 suspects for alleged criminal offences committed across the state.

The disclosure was made by the Commandant, Gyama Gyawiya while parading the suspects, at the State Command headquarters on Monday during which he outlined the details of each case and provided updates on ongoing investigations.

For the alleged offence of unnatural offence (sodomy), the NSCDC arrested Dantala Babaniya 30 years, Abubakar Mohammed, 13 years,
Victor Clement, 11 years old and Abdurrahman Ukasha, 11 years.

Gyama Gyawiya stated “This is a case of sodomy committed at the Gombe Mega Park. According to the case, Dantala Babaniya is having sodomy with Abubakar Mohammed and the said Abubakar Mohammed is also engaged in such an act with the other two, as at the time of this briefing investigation is ongoing.”

The Commandant added that for criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and theft, the Command arrested Babangida Mohammed, 18 years and Mubarak Mohammed 18 years old.

He explained that the crime was committed on Monday, 13th January 2025 during the night hours at Kagarawal, Gombe LGA where the suspects and other two who are currently at large, conspired among themselves and stole two goats out of which they slaughtered one.

According to him, the facility of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has been frequently vandalized by unscrupulous elements for some time until when the suspect was apprehended on Friday, 20th December, 2024.

The said suspect was caught with some meters believed to have being vandalized from the facility while the suspect willingly confessed that he is not first time offender to the facility in question.

He further confessed of stealing copper wires and sold same at the mile 3, Akko L.G.A of Gombe State while the accomplices he mentioned were equally invited for interrogation but they denied the allegation levelled against them.

For the vandalism of the alluminium power transmission cable in Kwami LGA, the Alluminium power transmission cables linking various villages in the local government areas has been frequently vandalized by unscrupulous elements for some time until when the suspect, Ismail Mohammed, 19-years-old was apprehended on Friday, 20th December, 2024.

The said suspect was caught with some meters believed to have being vandalized from the area. The suspect willingly confessed that he is not first time offender on the offence in question.

He further confessed of stolen Alluminium power transmission cable and sold it at Yelenguruza area, Gombe L.G.A of Gombe State while the accomplices he mentioned are yet to be apprehended, but effort is being made to bring them to book.

The Command also arrested Mohammed Adamu, 21 years, Usman Mu’azu, 17 years and Alhassan Mohammed, 17 years for
criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and theft at Jekadafari, Abacha Road.

The Commandant stated that the offence was committed on Monday, 14th January, 2025 during night hours at Abacha road Jekadafari Gombe, where the suspects criminally conspired and intruded into the complainants house and stolen one bag of maize and hide it somewhere but the maize is recovered even though some part of it was not recovered.

As at the time of the brief, all the suspects were apprehended and investigation is ongoing which at the end the suspects would be prosecuted accordingly, the command stated.

Also, for escape from lawful custody (Cell break), criminal use of force and theft, the NSCDC arrested Muhammad Abubakar (Alhaji), 20 years.

According to him, “This is a case committed by the suspect sometimes in the year 2023, where the suspect and his accomplices almost Twenty broke and escaped from the State Command detention facility while undergoing investigation on a case of unnatural offence and same sex marriage and other related offences.”

“So also, sometimes in the month of January, 2025, he criminally used his force and robbed Two people of their money and mobile phones,” he added.

The suspect said that he was sent by someone to collect the mobile phone and money while investigation is still ongoing to fish out those behind the act and bring them to book.

As at the time of the brief, effort is being made to apprehend those at large and the receivers while investigation is currently ongoing and at the completion of the investigation the suspects would be charge to court.
