Gombe State Government through the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation has opened tender for the construction of first of its kind Underpass to connect Yemi Osinbanjo way with Three Arms Zone, Central Business District, and construction of road networks within the area.
Delivering his remarks during the bid opening ceremony held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation in Gombe on Friday, the Chairman, Tender Committee, who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Danladi Adamu, said that the project is in line with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s giants infrastructural development been recorded in the State that has expanded Gombe to a modern city in the entire Northern states.
He said that, the project is very important and will provide a free flow of traffic within the three arms zone and environs.
The Permanent Secretary gave the assurance that due process would be followed in awarding the contract, adding that the Technical Evaluation Committee for the bidding would be fair, transparent, and just.
“You can be rest assured of a fair bidding process, whoever will be picked will be somebody who is eminently qualified and we expect the best from him, If you are not successful today, do not be deterred, you will be successful tomorrow,” he said.
He further said the bidding was in conformity with the State Government’s policy of due process in awarding contracts.
On his part, the Chairman, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Engr. Muhammed Saidu, who spoke on behalf of Engineering professional bodies, called on the successful Contracting firm to ensure speedy completion of the project within the stipulated period contained in the contractual agreement.
In their separate remarks, the representatives of Contractors and consultants of the project, Engr. Ibrahim Najjar of Datum Construction Limited and Engr. Abdulrashid Abdulhamid respectively, all expressed satisfaction with the process of the bid opening and assured the Government of quality and timely completion of the work if given the opportunity.
A total of four construction firms summited their documents for the project and were successfully opened as contained in a statement by Titus Nerus Dangabar, Information Officer MOWH&T.
