Reflecting on the goodness and faithfulness of God in the five years of the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in the state, the Christian Community on Sunday organised a Thanksgiving Service to appreciate God for sustenance.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, in the company of the State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Joseph Alphonsus Shinga and the APC Chairman, Nitte Amangal led top government functionaries to ECWA Goodnews, GRA Gombe where the faithful gathered and made renditions appreciating God’s faithfulness in Gombe State.
The Deputy Governor pointed out that, looking back at the successes of their administration and the thriving of peaceful coexistence and transformation, they have no reason not to offer thanksgiving unto the Lord.
“By the grace of God, we are now getting to five years of the administration of Gombe State. We have done a lot and we still intend to do more. Apart from road construction, the school of nursing that is under construction will be commissioned in August.
“The school has the capacity of absorbing one thousand (1000) students. We have also gotten a licence to begin awarding of Bsc Nursing. We also intend to increase our primary healthcare centres from one to two in each ward across the eleven local governments to boost healthcare delivery in the state.”
He also said that the situation in Gombe is just as put by a Pastor who rightly defined Gombe, as “God’s Own Miraculous Blessed Empire” especially when we consider the peaceful coexistence, the transformation and the rest.
Drawing from scriptural provisions, Jatau urged Christians to pray for those in government, as the scriptures demanded, the followers should pray for those in Authority. He said even if they were enemies, they deserved their prayers since the Bible said Christians need to pray for their enemies.
He stressed, ” We solicit for your prayers to be able to succeed. This is in line with Biblical injunctions that you pray for us. As the Bible says pray for those in authority, pray for your enemies.
“That behoves on the Church to pray for us the more even if we were your enemies. We are also praying for you considering the hard times now and the need to pass impactful messages you need the grace of God through prayers.
“Let’s continue to pray for peaceful coexistence in the state which is the premise upon which we shall be able to do more for the people.”
While making his remarks, former Minister of Youths and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung said that he was in the state on fact-finding of the numerous projects he has read in the media about developments in Gombe State.
He said having visited the state, he has come to realise that the Governor of Gombe is really doing a marvellous job, calling for a synergy between the state and the federal government so that the development taking place in Gombe shall be replicated in the federal government.
Speaking on the Church and governance, SolomonDalung admonished the Church to see Christian government officials as the Nehemiahs of today, who will spearhead the building of the broken walls of the time otherwise there shall be a gap and things will remain in their ruins.
In his remarks, Former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Sen. Joshua Lidani, said the event was organised to celebrate God’s faithfulness and His blessings on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s led government and people of Gombe State towards living in peace with one another.
He appreciated the Church for accepting to host the programme and solicited continued prayers for the government to succeed.
