Gombe State House of Assembly Committee on Water and Environment has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his remarkable efforts in tackling gully erosion in the state.
Members of the Committee, led by Hon. Musa Manaja Zambuk, expressed their delight during an oversight visit to various gully erosion control project sites in the state.
The Committee praised Governor Yahaya’s vision and zeal in embarking on the legacy project, which has brought relief to communities ravaged by erosion.
They also commended the state Commissioner for Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, Mohammed Saidu Fawu, and the ACRESAL Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro, for their steadfastness and quality work.
The Commissioner, who led the Assembly Members to the project sites, applauded the contractor’s qualitative execution of the project, stating that Gombe has become a reference point and model for other states to emulate.
Amb. Jauro highlighted the project’s overview and appreciated the World Bank’s support, noting that the narrative of Gombe being the “Erosion capital of the North East” is changing for the better.
Residents at the project sites visited praised Governor Yahaya’s administration for restoring hope and improving living conditions in their communities.
The projects visited included the FCE(T) 21km Gully Erosion Control Project, Gully Erosion Control Project from Behind International Hotel to Commissioner of Police Residence, and the Proposed Doma Gully Erosion Control Project site.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Ecology and Environment, Hon. Muazu Garba, Directors of the Ministry and Supervisory team accompanied the Legislators for the oversight visit and Projects Inspection as contained in a statement by Amos Pononyamba Fabulous, Information Officer MOWE&FR.
