Gombe State Geographical Information Service (GOGIS) has inaugurated a joint Revenue Optimisation taskforce to improve the agency’s revenue generation.
The inauguration was done by the Director General of GOGIS, Dr Kabiru Usman Hassan who said that the development is aimed to collaboratively mobilise massive remittance of statutory outstanding ground rent and other official fees.
He stressed that the move was especially from old-established layouts in key districts for improved developmental activities of the State Government.
He was speaking during an engagement meeting with key technical stakeholders earlier on Saturday in the Agency office emphasising the need to provide legal documentation (including a digital certificate of occupancy) to titleholders especially those who have subdivided their plots or bought plots from other people and wish to change it to their names.
According to him, “The dynamic task force will, in the coming weeks, focus on creating adequate sensitization to support driving key revenue-generating mechanisms, including visiting key quatres within the metropolis to remind titleholders of their statutory responsibilities such as payment of annual groundrent, and other services of the agency such as deed of assignment.”
The Task Force is set to work with all relevant stakeholders from the district heads, members of selected technical offices, and the public for a holistic implementation of the project over phases.
The DG stressed Phase 1 will be targeting the following: Orji Estate, Hashidu Housing Estate, Investment Quaters, Gombe-Bauchi Road, GDP/30 (Investment), Buhari Housing Estate, Old G.R.A, A. D. P. Quatres, GDP/2 (G.R.A), DP 16 (G.R.A) and DP/14 (Federal Low cost).
Members of the meeting included a representative from the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, Abubakar Shuaibu Suraj, Chairman Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers Esv. Sani Musajo, Chairman Nigerian Bar Association Benjamin Sati, Director Lands, Director Planning, communications, and revenue collecting officers of the agency.
