Monterrey boss Fernando Ortiz has picked his choice of the greatest player of all time after a recent altercation with Lionel Messi.
He still opined that the Argentine is the greatest footballer of all time.
However, he said there was no disrespect intended when he told the press that they were not bothered about the Argentine’s ahead of the second leg of their CONCACAF champions cup game.
Monterrey won the first leg 2-1 at the Chase Stadium and backed it up with a 3-1 win on Wednesday night in Mexico
Ortiz said he believed in his players, and that is why he was confident ahead of the game.
He added that the Argentine is still the GOAT for him.
“To me, Leo is the greatest player of all time, I did not mean to offend anyone, I just gave an honest opinion. Lionel Messi is the GOAT,” he said, according to Goal.
Arogidigba Global Journal reported that after the first leg of the game, Messi, who was not featured due to injury, was involved in an altercation with Ortiz and assistant coach Nico Sanchez.
The reason behind the confrontation was Ortiz’s comments before the game, suggesting biased officiating in Miami’s favor.
Sanchez called Messi a “possessed dwarf, who has the face of the devil,” as per The Mirror
