The newly introduced Government Enterprises and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) by the Zamfara state government has planned to train 45,000 women, youths and vulnerable people across the 14 local government areas in the state.
This was disclosed today by the state coordinator of GEEP programme Hajiya sadiya Bello during her tour to Local government areas and Emirate councils in the state.
Hajiya sadiya stated that the Geep programme was introduced in line with the Rescue mission agenda of the present administration in the state.
“Under the arrangements contain in the programme, three thousands beneficiaries from each of the 13 local governments, while Gusau the state capital would have six thousand that will be engaged in different skills and supported after their training in the state,” she said.
The coordinator further disclosed that, the activities under the programme are designed to equip targeted beneficiaries with the basic skills to transform them into wealth creators and job providers.
During the tour, the state coordinator engaged with Sole administrators, the emirs , Business communities, women associations, civil society organizations, Religious leaders who are expected to play a vital roles towards the success of the programme.
According to her, application forms were distributed through the local government and Emirates councils for prospective beneficiaries to fill, urged the councils to be just and fair to those that would benefit from the programme in the state.
