From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has claimed that weak institution in the country is responsible for President Bola Tinubu’s poor implementation of policies and reforms.
Ganduje dropped the hint when some leaders of APC-USA Chapter paid him courtesy visit at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
The party’s boss blamed the situation in the country as a global problem, emphasising that it did not come as a surprise to many that Nigeria is having its own shell of the problem.
“There is no doubt, as a developing country, even the so-called developed economist, have their turbulence in one way or the other. So, it is not surprising that Nigeria is having its own shell of the problem. This is not the first time. You will recall that whenever there is a reform agenda, obstacles must be on the way, as a result people must suffer in one way or the other.
“But, in the long run, everything will be according to the plan. We are aware that our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, came in with the intention to introduce reforms. Our institutions are weak, and unless you have strong institutions, you will find it difficult to implement whatever good policies you have.
“Mr President is doing all that’s needed to be done, and in a matter of time, we will come out of this because he is working very hard on the economy and very soon we will see positive results,” he said.
Presenting their speech during the audience with the national chairman, the chapter members chronicled their contributions to the progress of the administration.
“Since inauguration, we have been supporting the Tinubu/Shettima administration by calling on Nigerians to support the president. As you can see, even in this period or month of protest when many have reportedly fled the country, we are here to support the President and our party and in solidarity with the people that they should be patient with the administration and allow the reforms being put in place run their course.
“We have done so much for APC selflessly with little or nothing to show for it in terms of recognition or compensation from the party or the party controlled government, regardless, we will continue to fly the flag of the party in the United States of America.
“We have abundance of expertise among our members which if deliberately harnessed will add great value to our administration and the party,” the chapter said.
