The Stellenbosch University Scholarship offers a funded Masters opportunity for interested and eligible candidates of African origin willing to study in South Africa.
The Stellenbosch University Scholarship will provide full funding to selected candidates to pursue Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence programmes at the university in 2024.
Requirements:
To be considered for the 2024 Stellenbosch University Scholarship, you must have one of the following qualifications by the time of enrolment:
- An honours degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Mathematical Statistics;
- A four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
- An NQF level 8 qualification deemed equivalent to the above, in a field closely linked to ML and AI.
- You should also have existing and demonstrable proficiency in Python or an equivalent programming language, and be comfortable with numerical linear algebra, vector calculus, basic probability theory and statistics.
- Though not strictly required, it is highly recommended that you should have already completed an introductory course on machine learning.
Duration and Reward
- A number of full scholarships available for students from Africa. If you complete an application for the programme before 15 August, you will also be considered for a scholarship.
- Successful applicants will be notified in September.

- A letter of motivation
- A statement of research interest
- The letter of motivation can be short (1 page), on why you want to complete this programme, what you hope to get out of it, and what you might want to do after the programme.
- The statement of research interest can be a short (1 page) letter on any specific interests you currently have within the fields of ML and AI.
