The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development. The group has also distanced itself from the planned national protest, urging its members to remain calm and patient.
At a press briefing on Sunday at the residence of their national leader, Alhaji Abubakar Bello Bodejo, in Ukeh, Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the association expressed gratitude to the government. “This monumental step is a clear indication of the government’s recognition of the pivotal role that livestock farming plays in our nation’s economy, culture, and social fabric,” Bodejo said.
“We do not support or encourage our members to participate in the planned protests across the country,” Bodejo emphasised. “Peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement with relevant authorities are far more effective.”
The association urged Nigerians to remain calm and patient, trusting in the process of dialogue and collaboration to bring about necessary changes. “We recognise that the current socio-economic challenges require a collective and measured response, rather than actions that could potentially exacerbate tensions and lead to further instability,” Bodejo said.

The association praised the government’s efforts to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by livestock farmers and pastoralists. “We anticipate that the ministry will foster a more robust and supportive environment, promoting global best practices and introducing modern techniques that will revolutionise the sector,” Bodejo added. “We believe that with the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development, the government has demonstrated its commitment to addressing the needs of livestock farmers and pastoralists.”
The association called on all state governors to emulate the Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, who created a similar ministry in his state.
Furthermore, the association commended the security agencies’ efforts in fighting insecurity and urged them to adopt more proactive and non-kinetic strategies. “We call on the government and security agencies to prioritise the welfare and protection of pastoralists who often find themselves vulnerable to attacks and conflicts,” Bodejo added.
The association reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, security, and sustainable development. “Together, we can overcome our challenges and create a future of prosperity and harmony for all,” Bodejo said.
