The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector Command, has announced the commencement of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr special patrol from Thursday, March 27, to Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
This initiative is in anticipation of the high volume of human and vehicular traffic associated with the Sallah celebrations and is aimed at ensuring a hitch-free festive period.
This is contained in a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of Sector Command, Abdullahi Labaran, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH on Friday evening.
“The objective of this special operation is to enhance the Corps’ visibility on highways across Kano through the early deployment of personnel and logistics to achieve a reduction in road traffic crashes and road traffic fatalities and road traffic injuries.
“The special patrol will ensure Strict enforcement of Road Traffic Laws and Regulations, Prompt rescue and response to distress calls, as well as Speedy removal of obstructions from the highways, among others.
“To achieve these objectives, the sector command has deployed 1,889 personnel, comprising 1,348 Regular Marshals and 541 Special Marshals, in addition to providing 24/7 standby provision of 5 ambulances and service points for prompt rescue and emergency response.
“Provision of a heavy-duty tow truck for the speedy removal of obstructions from highways to ensure the free flow of traffic, traffic control and traffic calming measures at all Eid prayer grounds in the state to ensure lane discipline and orderliness,” it said.
According to the statement, the command has also deployed Mobile Courts to handle infractions related to road traffic crashes.
“The Sector commander, Masa’udu Matazu, has warned against car racing and underage driving during the celebration while urging all road users to comply with traffic regulations to ensure a safe and joyous Eid-el-Fitr,” the statement added.
