Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has directed commanding officers to activate mobile court operations to check the activities of drivers during the yuletide.
FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, in a statement yesterday, said this move “aims to intensify the Corps’ efforts in ensuring road safety and reducing crashes during this festive season and beyond.”
According to him, the directive has become very necessary because mobile court operations help to promptly prosecute traffic offenders, serving as a deterrent to potential violators.
He said: “To achieve maximum impact, Commanding Officers are expected to take responsibility for implementing mobile court operations effectively by working closely with relevant stakeholders, especially the judiciary, to ensure seamless prosecution of traffic rule violators.”
“As a prelude to the operations, the Corps Marshal also ordered them to ensure robust engagement and public enlightenment campaigns to educate road users about the importance of adhering to traffic laws.”
He called on drivers and vehicle owners to put their vehicles in good shape and ensure that their vehicle and driver licences are up to date.
He emphasised the imperatives of observing established traffic rules and regulations on all roads to avoid prosecution, as no driver will be spared if arrested for going against the law.
