Four people have died in a lone crash along the Ijebu-Ode-Benin Expressway.
The crash which occurred around 11:40 am on Friday, February 9, 2024, involved a Toyota Camry car with number plate BDG184FY.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident in a statement made available to journalists.
According to Okpe, the driver of the vehicle who was travelling at high speed, lost control of the wheel and veered off the road, killing all the four occupants.
The corpses of the victims; three male and one female adults have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijebu-Ode.
“A fatal crash occurred at about 1140hrs on Friday 09/02/24 on the Ore- Ijebu-ode section of the expressway around J3,” the statement read.
“One vehicle, a Toyota Camry blue colour, with registration number BDG184FY was involved.
““A total of four persons were involved and they all died from the lone crash (three male adults and a female adult).
““The suspected cause of the lone crash was excessive speed which led to loss of control and the vehicle veered off the road and somersaulted into a swamp.”
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Sector Commander of FRSC, CC Anthony Uga, has advised motorists on long journeys to always have 15 minutes rest after a four hour drive to avoid fatigue while driving and also go with the stipulated speed limit.
