The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has urged newly installed chiefs in the state to use their present position as traditional title holders to foster unity, peace and progress in Ibadanland as the accredited representatives of Olubadan of Ibadanland.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Gbenga Ayoade, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Sunday, stated that the Olubadan gave the charge when he conferred honorary Chieftaincy titles on some Ibadan eminent personalities and their wives, which took place at the Olubadan’s palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, on Saturday.
He said the eminent personalities were Sulaiman Ajewole as Aare and Yeye Atunluse of Ibadanland, while Abisoye Ayoyimika and Olusola Fagade were conferred with Aare and Yeye Asojuoba of Ibadanland, respectively.
Oba Olakulehin disclosed that the title holders had, in no small measure, made their contributions to the unity, progress and development of the ancient city.
Speaking through the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Akeem Adewoyin, the monarch said the recipients of the titles have the interest of Ibadanland at heart, consequently, Olubadan and his advisory council considered it necessary to recognise them and appreciate them accordingly.
He said, “The conferment of the titles on you is in recognition of your assistance to the progress of Ibadanland which I believe will spur you to do more.
“Use your present position as traditional title holders to foster unity, peace and progress in Ibadanland as the accredited representatives of Olubadan of Ibadanland.”
Present at the occasion were His Royal Majesties, the former Governor of the state and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja; the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Eddy Oyewole; the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olubunmi Dada; the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; the Ekarun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Adebayo Akande;
Also gracing the occasion was the minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Arts, Hannatu Musa Musawa.
