Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has appointed a former Nigeria’s representative to United Nations (UN), Professor Tijjani Muhammad Bande as a District Head of Koko-Besse Local Government of the state.
Idris,who confirmed this while Bande,and members of his Community paid him courtesy visit at Government House Birnin Kebbi, assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to involve traditional rulers in developmental programmes designed to uplift the wellbeing of the people.
“I am always saying it that my administration is government of the people, I sought for support from the Federal Government on the rehabilitation of the KoKo – Besse – Zariya Kalakala – Bagudo road”,
“The Federal Government has documented it, very soon, the contractor will mobilise to site, we joined forces with the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning on the matter, we have secured government’s approval.”
Idris added that the Kebbi State Government would embark on development of towns in the area and other places after the completion of facelift of the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, designed to give the town the desired status of a capital city.
He said the government would also rehabilitate between 30 and 50 schools in KoKo-Besse to improve education in the area.
“I am also rejoicing with Professor Tijjani Muhammad Bande on his appointment as the District Head of Besse, he inherited and merited the stool, I am assuring him of support to govern his people successfully, whatever way possible, we will take development to his district”,
“Professor Bande is well-known to me, as former Vice Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, former Director-General Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, and former Nigeria’s Representative at the United Nations, Professor Bande, GCON, has projected and promoted the image of Kebbi State and Nigeria on the international stage.
“Professor Bande is unique, I am confident he will use his experience and knowledge to fruition in the improvement of life of his people and the development of Kebbi State,” Governor Nasir explained.
Earlier, the District Head of Dutsinmari, Alhaji Muhammadu MuALLAHyidi Usman who led the delegation, and Professor Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo, on behalf of the people of Besse, thanked Governor Nasir Idris for signing the approval of the appointment of Professor Tijjani Muhammad Bande as the District Head of Besse.
“Bande has been a prince and has inheritance to the stool of Besse, we are immensely grateful to our leader, Comrade Nasir Idris for giving him an opportunity to serve his people”,
“We are confident Bande will apply his enormous wealth of experience to hasten the development of the district”,
“Besse constitute 63% of the people of KoKo-Besse Local Government, but remains the most backward in growth and development, we appeal to the Governor to offer full support to the new District Head to develop the area, we are in need of access roads, educational facilities and basic social services,” they both chorused.
