A former lawmaker in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Tomide Akinribido, has dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Akinribido, who resigned his membership of PDP in a letter forwarded to the Chairman of PDP in ward 7, Ondo, in Ondo East Local Government Area of the state.
The former House of Assembly member however, did not state reasons responsible for his exit from the party but appreciated the party for giving him the platform to serve the people.
Akinribido said, “Yesterday, Friday 9th of February 2024, I resigned my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
“I first joined the PDP in 2014,left in 2018 to contest a house of assembly seat under the Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) platform during the 2019 elections,and returned to the PDP in 2021 till yesterday.
“I appreciate the PDP for enabling me to use its platform to seek re-election during the 2023 elections,and establish cherished friendships that remains enduring across the nation”
The letter to the party, however, read: “I write to inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective today, February 9th, 2024.
“By notice of this letter, my membership of the PDP terminates immediately. Kindly accept the assurance”
Akinribido, a former lawmaker who represented Ondo West constituency 1 at the Ondo State House of Assembly.
