In a bid to address the skills deficit in Nigeria’s facility management sector, Max-Migold has unveiled its diploma programme, aimed at enhancing the competence of professionals and aspiring practitioners in this rapidly evolving industry.
Chief Executive Officer of Max-Migold, Paul Erubami, described the Facility Management Master Craft (FMMC) Diploma as a comprehensive training and interactive learning platform designed to equip participants with technical skills, industry knowledge, and practical tools essential for success.
“The programme will ensure participants acquire the necessary skills and certifications to secure excellent facility management jobs and contracts,” Erubami stated, adding that the training would help attendees advance their careers and thrive in the growing facility management field.
Accredited by the Oil and Gas Training Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), the diploma offers a three-month curriculum combining theoretical learning and practical experience. Participants can attend classes physically at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) or virtually, earning a nationally recognised certification and gaining access to professional opportunities within the sector.
Erubami identified major obstacles hindering the sector, including inadequate technical expertise, funding challenges, and weak regulatory enforcement. He noted that gaps in skills related to modern building systems, sustainability practices, and compliance remain pressing issues.
“To address these challenges, educational institutions must update their curricula to incorporate emerging technologies, sustainability, and compliance while offering hands-on training through internships and industry partnerships,” he said.
The programme, scheduled to run from February to April 2025, aims to develop a skilled workforce capable of navigating the complexities of facility management. “By bridging the skills gap, the initiative is poised to enhance the industry’s standards and drive its growth in Nigeria,” Erubami concluded.
