The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has described as tragic the death of Mrs. Blessing Eyakenyi Adewunmi, the 29-year-old daughter of Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, due to complications during childbirth.
The incident occurred at a hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, just seven months after her wedding to Olumuyiwa Adewunmi.
Mrs. Tinubu expressed her condolences, stating that Blessing’s death is a profound loss, and offered prayers for comfort to the grieving family.
“It is with great shock and sadness that I learnt of the painful demise of Dr. Blessing Eyakenyi Adewunmi, daughter of the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, H.E. Akon Eyakenyi.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to her husband, her parents, and the entire family.
“Dr. Blessing’s unfortunate death is extremely painful and a great loss.
“The word of God says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: ‘In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.’ The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
“I pray that these words of the Lord will bring comfort and strength to the entire family.
“May the Lord God grant you all the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
“May her gentle soul rest in peace.”
