A former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Akin Oke, has described the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr Zacch Adedeji, as a phenomenon who represents brilliance, dynamism, and hope in the contemporary world.
Adedeji, who served as the Commissioner for Finance during the first term of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the governor of Oyo State, is an indigene of Iwo-Ate, via Ogbomoso, where Oke also hails from. The two have a father-son relationship even many years after leaving office as allies of the late two-term governor.
In a statement on Wednesday to celebrate the 47th birthday of the FIRS chairman, which he personally signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan, Chief Oke said Adedeji had earned the status of a statesman at a young age through a dint of hard work, brilliance, and good spirit capped with patriotism and fear of God.
Oke said, “Zacch is an exceptionally gifted personality who, unlike many others, refused to be swayed or derailed on his way to the top. The magnitude of accolades with which he is being celebrated on account of his birthday anniversary speaks volumes of his impact on the global community and humanity in particular. One cannot but be proud of a son like him because he keeps getting better as he grows bigger in age and status.
“Though a son of the soil, Zacch was a precious gift to the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi at the inception of his administration in 2011 when he was made the Commissioner for Finance on the recommendation of the then Senator Bola Tinubu (now President Bola Ahmed Tinubu).
“Zacch did not only serve to manage the finances of the state excellently; he used his office to impact positively on the lives of many people in the state through his divine gift of generosity.
“As a technocrat, patriot, and politician par excellence, Zacch remains one of the best brains which this generation has been blessed with, and there is no doubting the fact that the Nigerian nation will continue to flourish as long as we have people like him at the helm of affairs.
“We cannot but appreciate President Tinubu for the discovery and nurturing of such talent in whom (and some others) we hope to achieve the desire to have an economically buoyant and prosperous Nigeria.”
