The Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, has highlighted the procedure to be taken to bring some of the dual-national players, who are doing well at their various club sides, to represent Nigeria.
The former Ajax winger said he is not blocking the way for more dual national players to join the Super Eagles, but added that there are procedures to go about it.
The Nigerian Football Federation, led by Amaju Pinnick, brought in the likes of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong to the Nigerian side.
At the moment, many Nigerian football lovers would love to see the likes of Michael Olise, Lesley Ugochukwu, Michael Kayode and Samuel Omorodion play for the country.
Finidi said that any of these players would need to formally request a change of association if they decided to play for the Nigeria national team.
“There are some procedures that have to be done. You don’t just see a Nigerian that is playing in one of these clubs and say, let him come; it doesn’t work that way,” Finidi said at Wednesday’s media briefing.
“There’s paperwork and procedures; you have to speak to these players and that is not my job. We have people at the NFF who have been doing that in the past and in the future, they will definitely do that.
“Our job is to watch, and when we see a good player, the people that know the job properly and that is their department, will make that happen. If we see a player we know can help, we can bring him on board; we will do that. We recommend it, and the rest, the NFF will take care of that.”
