The Financial Centre for Sustainability, Lagos, has urged stakeholders to prioritise sustainable finance for a clean climate-friendly environment in Nigeria
According to a statement obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, the centre made the call at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Redwood Consulting for its brand, Marketing and Communications Strategy in Lagos.
The statement noted that the partnership will empower FC4SL to effectively communicate its mission and advocate for policies that promote sustainable development.
As part of this commitment, FC4SL is urging financial institutions to prioritise and increase their investments in green projects and adopt sustainable financing practices.
The Executive Secretary of FC4SL and Senior Vice President/Head, Government and Regulatory Relations Division of FMDQ Group, Mr Emmanuel Etaderhi, stated the crucial role of the financial sector in addressing climate change.
“Financial institutions have the power to catalyse the transition to a low-carbon economy by directing investments towards sustainable projects. We call on them to prioritise green financing and integrate environmental, social, and governance factors into their decision-making processes.
“Our partnership with Redwood Consulting will enable us to strengthen our brand and communicate our programmes and activities more effectively. Their proven track record in the industry makes them the ideal partner to help us achieve our goals.
“The MOU signing with Redwood Consulting marks a significant milestone for FC4SL as it strengthens its capacity to influence policy, engage with stakeholders, and drive positive change. The partnership will leverage Redwood Consulting’s brand marketing and communications expertise to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that will elevate FC4SL’s profile as a leading voice in the sustainability space and help in connecting with domestic and international stakeholders finance to support clean and climate-friendly initiatives through innovation, partnerships and capacity development. Key areas of focus will include, brand communication, messaging, media relations, and stakeholder engagement”, he said.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Redwood Consulting, Hannah Oyebanjo, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.
