Federal Government has tasked traditional rulers across the country with the need to maintain peace in their various domains.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha gave the task in Umuahia during an enlarged meeting with traditional ruler, labour leaders and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state.
The Minister told the royal fathers that in trying to maintain peace and order in their communities, the should bear in mind that President Bola Tinubu was fully committed that their needs were met.
“Whatever is your concern is being looked into, nothing has been left untouched. You will soon see those things that the President promised you” the Minister said
Onyejeocha assured members of the Nigeria Labour Congress that the issue of National Minimum wage will no longer take five years before being reviewed.
Describing the Labour Union as an integral part of Government that ensures stability and peace at workplace and in the Country, the Minister urged them to be mindful of that and avoid embarking on needless industrial actions that might distract the Government from being productive.
“if there are things that are not going well, you should discuss it with us and don’t forget about social dialogue”.
Chairmen of the various groups appreciated the Minister for coming to interface with them and assured her of their continued prayers for the nation.
They appealed to the Minister to ensure whatever was due for them were received at the right time.
