She said, “I believe hope has been restored to the civil servants; the hope of realizing your ultimate aspirations and reaching the peak of your civil service careers has been granted today by the present administration.
“I must commend the efforts of His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and with my support as Minister of State, we have been able to achieve this goal.
This has been made possible through the commitment of the present administration under the able leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The ongoing award and recognition activities are among the steps we will continue to take to appreciate you. Words alone cannot express our gratitude for your contributions.
We aim to give you more hope by engaging you where necessary.”
While congratulating the retirees for their meritorious service, Dr. Mahmoud also encouraged them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
“First, I want to appreciate you for the invaluable contributions you have made to the FCT Administration. Our achievements would not have been possible without your efforts.
You are part of the foundation that has transformed the FCT into what it is today.
“Secondly, take care of yourselves after service. Embrace healthy living so that you can enjoy many more years ahead.
This will allow your families, who have now welcomed you back home, to spend more quality time with you.
Achieving this involves maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet, among other things”, He stated.
In his address, the FCT Head of Service, Mr. Samuel Attang, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Education Secretariat, Mr. Prospect Ibe, observed that the careers of the retirees have been marked by diligence, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the principles of public service.
He commended the support and vision of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for fostering a culture of excellence and dedication within the administration.
Mr. Attang described the retirees as the backbone of the administration and assured them that their hard work has not gone unnoticed.
“The impact of your work will be felt for years to come. The policies you helped craft, the projects you oversaw, and the initiatives you championed have all contributed significantly to the growth and development of the FCT,” he stated.
Earlier in her remarks, the Acting Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvements, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, stated that the event provided an opportunity for the administration to communicate its vision, goals, and priorities to both outgoing and remaining staff members.
She added that it allows for reflection on past accomplishments and sets the tone for future endeavors.
“By taking the time to celebrate the achievements of our departing colleagues, we demonstrate that we value and respect our staff members. This can have a positive impact on employee satisfaction, retention, and overall organizational performance,” Dr. Ahmadu affirmed.
