The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Monday received medical equipment aimed at improving officers’ well-being and addressing prevalent health concerns.
The donated equipment includes devices for checking blood pressure and blood sugar levels and dental care tools—critical for preventing conditions that could lead to life-threatening complications among officers.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Abuja, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, expressed gratitude for the donation, emphasising its importance in ensuring officers remain fit for duty.
“I feel elated that they have seen us worthy of having this equipment. My doctor has told me that with this, we don’t need to leave our hospital just to check our teeth. The duty we do as police officers is to save lives. We are on duty 24 hours every day and are prone to a lot of illnesses and diseases,” Disu stated.
The CEO of Sharegiving Sun Health Care Limited, Kingsley Oha who facilitated the donation, said the initiative was driven by the urgent healthcare needs of police officers and other security agencies.
“We are motivated and moved by the needs of the Nigeria police and other security agencies in Nigeria. One the machine can be used to treat tooth problems. We are in support of Nigeria police in terms of health issues. We are also supporting Nigeria police and other security agencies with basic health equipment. We discovered that a lot of our service men are having a lot of prostrate issues.
“We are partnering with them and other security agencies to tackle this issue. We know their needs and we are motivated to support them,” Oha said.
He further called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the police, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining national security.
