Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has predicted that Manchester United’s shaky victory over Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final clash on Sunday will ultimately cost Erik ten Hag his job as the club’s manager.
Recall that Man United had built a comfortable 3-0 lead, thanks to goals from Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes.
But the Championship side staged a stunning comeback, scoring three goals in the second half to take the match to extra time and eventually penalty shootout.
Ten Hag’s side eventually won the game on penalties.
However, Carragher believes United’s overall performance was poor and that the dressing room would not be happy.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said he doesn’t see any progress at United under Ten Hag.
He said: “I think that result has just cost Erik ten Hag his job. I don’t see how he stays, I really don’t.
“It’s just poor performance after poor performance. That dressing room is probably the most embarrassed dressing room from a team that has just won a big game.
“You can’t even celebrate that win. Maybe that can somehow win the final but I just don’t see any progress.”
