A former Minister of state for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, has emerged winner of the African women in leadership award for the year 2023/2024.
The former Minister, who was announced as the winner, emerged after a keenly contested electioneering exercise in which she defeated a host of many African women in leadership positions all over the continent.
The award is annually given to deserving African women leaders who were outstanding in their leadership roles and contributed immensely to the development of the continent through their leadership.
Many analysts are of the opinion that the recipient of the award for this year, Dr. Ramattu Aliyu Tijjani, is well deserving of the honour which she got through many years of hard work and a leadership trait that involves the vision, strategic thinking, and a clear coherent plannings in leadership, noting that this is based on evidence and realism.
The recipient is imbued with a lot of convincing oratorical capacity as a former pioneer woman leader of the All Progress Congress (APC), a position where she used her leadership to help in mobilizing the citizenry in voting for the former President Mohammadu Buhari.
In the political realm, her leadership is never based on political gimmickry because when she was the Minister of state for the Federal capital territory administration, she discarded prevailing practice which leaders embarked on policy formulations and implementations based on convenience, political exigency and personal interest to a leadership dispensation that exhibit a holistic and sustainable development built on a well-articulated policy direction that complimented the administration’s realistic assessments and evidence-based leadership strategies that worked for the country then.
The award has, however, been described as a recognition of her exhibition of long and exceptional leadership traits shown over many years in leadership positions that have positively impacted the development of her country and the African continents as a whole. Through her leadership dispensation, she has given back to make the world a better place for generations yet unborn.
Dr. Ramattu Tijjani Aliyu’s leadership pledge is a moral obligation and a commitment to give and not a legal contract. Her valiance and resourcefulness has been rewarded by this award which is a defining recognition in her life. Many are of the opinion that this award made her an illuminant and radiant star in the African continents which will propel her to greater heights.
