Amidst swirling transfer rumors, Arsenal’s aspirations to secure Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes might hit a snag this summer, Barcelona icon Rivaldo has warned.
Rivaldo highlighted Manchester City’s keen interest in the talented Brazilian midfielder, potentially complicating Arsenal’s pursuit.
With uncertainties looming over the futures of midfield stalwarts Thomas Partey and Jorginho, coupled with the imperative to fortify the squad, Arsenal has rekindled their interest in Guimaraes, who showcased his prowess during a stellar campaign with Newcastle.
Nonetheless, Rivaldo opined that the 24-year-old might lean towards Manchester City’s proposition, buoyed by the allure of playing under the tutelage of manager Pep Guardiola and amid the camaraderie within the City ranks.
“Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City. He’s a great player and has been standing out this season,” remarked Rivaldo in an interview with Betfair.
“It’s clear that nowadays everyone wants to play for Manchester City because they have Pep Guardiola and a very tight and harmonious team.
“I believe that if Guimaraes leaves Newcastle, he will choose to go to Manchester City.”
