Amaja, a community in Enugu- Ezike situated in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, has placed a curse on adulterated palm wine dealers.

The development followed unending complaints by members of the community about the activities of some palm wine dealers who they accused of engaging in adulteration of palm wine.

This was made known in a video circulating online and sighted by Arogidigba Global Journal on Friday.

Palm wine, a sweet, tasty drink is gotten from the sap of various species of palm tree such as the Palmyra, date palms, and coconut palms.

It is one of the most popular drink in the South Eastern part of country.

According to Arogidigba Global Journal findings, Enugu-Ezike accounts for the greater percentage of palm wine production in Enugu State, with Amaja priding as one of the communities with best quality palm wine.

However, a voice in the video obtained by Arogidigba Global Journal lamented that there had been a series of complaints about some persons cutting corners by adulterating their palm wine.

He said the community opted to place a curse on the unscrupulous individuals causing losses to the community by their dishonesty.

According to him, people had in the past suffered health complications because they consumed adulterated palm wine, scaring away buyers from neighbouring states.

“If placing a curse against perpetrators of evil in our town will restore sanity, I am in support of it. And that’s what we have done today.

“I tell you, henceforth, you can drink palm wine in Amaja without fear of it turning out to be fake. Amaja is now the best place to get quality palm wine,” he said.
