Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt along with his family and security details.
According to a close source who requested anonymity, Fubara left the seat of power on Wednesday morning. The source, who was not authorized to speak on the matter, did not provide further details on the reason behind the move.
Meanwhile, security presence at the Government House remains sparse, though two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) stationed in front of the premises on Tuesday night were still present as of Wednesday, with a handful of security operatives on the ground.
On Tuesday, Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu and all elected members of the state House of Assembly for six months.
He said the decision was taken to restore stability in the state that has been witnessing political turmoil as a result of the disagreement between the state governor and the state lawmakers.
Following his declaration, the president appointed a former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Ibokette Ibas, as an administrator for Rivers State.
