The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, South East, Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has felicitated with Christians on the Christmas celebration.
Arodiogbu, in a Christmas message sent to PUNCH Online on Friday, called on all Nigerians to embrace unity and reflect deeply on the timeless lessons of Christmas, emphasising that the country’s strength lies in its diversity and shared values.
He reminded Nigerians that the season represents hope, love, and reconciliation – virtues he believes are crucial for the nation’s progress.
“Christmas teaches us about sacrifice, humility, and the power of giving. These are the very qualities we need to build a stronger, more united Nigeria,” he stated.
The message particularly resonated as Nigeria faces various socio-economic challenges. Arodiogbu, however, acknowledged these difficulties but emphasised that the spirit of Christmas offers a pathway to national healing and growth.
“Just as the birth of Christ brought light to the world, let us be light-bearers in our communities, spreading hope and fostering understanding across ethnic and religious lines,” he noted.
He specifically highlighted the importance of youth involvement in nation-building, calling on young Nigerians to reject divisive rhetoric and embrace their role as agents of positive change.
The message included practical suggestions for celebrating Christmas while promoting national unity, such as sharing meals with neighbours from different cultural backgrounds and participating in community service projects.
Dr Arodiogbu concluded his message by drawing parallels between the Christmas story and Nigeria’s journey as a nation.
“Like the wise men who came from different regions bearing gifts, our diversity is our strength. Each Nigerian brings unique gifts to our national table. This Christmas, let us recommit to unwrapping these gifts for the benefit of all, “he stated.
