Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame has taken over as the new Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). He replaces Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, who now serves as Director of Civil Relations at the Defence Headquarters.
In his first speech, Ejodame asked the media for support to succeed in his role. He promised an open-door policy. Thanking Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, for trusting him to boost NAF’s image, he vowed to do his best.
He said, “As I admire your commitment in the way you work, I solicit your support to work together, and by the grace of God, we will definitely come up with some impactful works.”
Ejodame brings deep experience in logistics, strategic planning, and defence management. A member of the 45th Regular Course at the Nigerian Defence Academy, he holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s in Transport and Logistics, and a PhD in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield, UK.
His training spans top courses, like logistics at the UN International Peace Support Operations Centre in Kenya and a supply chain program in Portugal. He excelled at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the Air Force War College, Makurdi, where he was the best graduate. He also earned awards from the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Air Staff at the National Defence College, Abuja.
Ejodame has held key NAF roles. He served as Directing Staff at Jaji and Abuja’s National Defence College.
He was the first Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, and its Director of Procurement. He also worked as Nigeria’s Defence Adviser in Malaysia, accredited to nine other countries, strengthening regional defence ties.
A skilled scholar and PR expert, Ejodame belongs to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He is a Fellow of the Air Force War College, National Defence College, and the Chartered Institutes of Logistics and Transport and Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria.
The outgoing spokesman, Akinboyewa, spoke earlier. He thanked the Chief of Air Staff for picking him as NAF’s voice. He said the CAS’s vision—“to transform the NAF into an agile and resilient force that effectively meets the air power demands of national security in all operational environments”—shaped his work.
He added, “I’m glad that I have made some new friends, and I look forward to continuing to engage with you in my new role as the Director of Civil Relations at Defence Headquarters.” He also praised the press for highlighting NAF’s brave efforts to Nigerians.
