The Federal Government has declared Sunday, March 31, and Monday, April 1, public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on behalf of the government, congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged Muslims to uphold the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He also emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for national peace, stability, and prosperity. He expressed hope that the celebration would strengthen unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic lines.
The minister further advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged in the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.
On behalf of the government, he wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid-el-Fitr, praying that the season brings happiness, success, and fulfillment to all.
