The Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) on Monday grilled a former Minister of Social Growth, Catastrophe Administration and Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar-Farouk, for hours over allegations of fraud.
A supply on the EFCC confirmed to the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) that the previous minister was on the fee’s headquarters on Monday morning.
“The previous minister stored her promise of honouring the fee’s invitation over alleged misappropriation of a multibillion-naira social intervention fund throughout her tenure as minister,” the supply mentioned.
The supply added that Umar-Farouk may probably be launched to go house and return on Tuesday for additional interrogation.
“She may unlikely be detained; she could also be allowed to go house however it is going to be very late, and she or he has to report tomorrow (Tuesday) morning for additional interrogation,” the supply mentioned.
The continuing investigation by the EFCC revolves round a staggering N37.1 billion allegedly laundered by officers of the ministry throughout Umar-Farouk’s tenure as minister.
The EFCC had per week in the past interrogated Mrs Halima Shehu, the suspended Nationwide Coordinator and Chief Govt Officer of the Nationwide Social Funding Programme Company (NSIPA), being supervised by the ministry.
